Baby Anna Renee arrived at 12:20 this morning, 7 pounds 2 oz, 19 in. She had a rough start but thankfully there was very well trained staff and she is going to be okay. Prayers were answered! I'll bring pics of all six to share!

Update tomorrow on retreat when my brain isn't so foggy!

cbridges22 05-11-2011 02:01 PM

So glad to hear all is well and can't wait to see the pictures.

Congratulations!

stitchy65 05-11-2011 10:29 PM

YAY!! A new baby!! How exciting that must be!

Feathers 05-12-2011 05:47 AM

So pleased to hear of your new grandbaby. Hope mom and baby are doing great. You'll have so much fun with this new, blessed joy in your life. Congrats!

Wine Woman 05-12-2011 07:36 AM

Congratulations Grandma K! Glad to hear things are ok. Did she have a C section? And the quilt is finished - Right!??!

sew cornie 05-12-2011 09:05 AM

Congratulations Karen! I hope all are doing well! Of course you're bringing pictures to the beach, right?

trish b 05-12-2011 12:49 PM

Congratulations Karen great to have new grand baby.
I will be happy to help cook if there is a need. I cannot sit to long without getting up to move around.
Karen, did you say we have to bring all our own bed linens and towels, etc? I will bring kitchen towels and cloths along with dish soap. This is just like going camping, which we do 2 or 3 times a year.
I cannot eat bananas, or Tuna. They are easy to avoid.

KarenBarnes 05-12-2011 04:24 PM

Payments now received from Bluelady and Candlequilter. That makes 17! I'm waiting to hear from one more person who PM'd me but I'm honestly not sure which name to call her by! I've paid for her!

Update on food that was volunteered:
Condiments and a pound cake and coffee (Cbridges), a turkey, gravy etc (Feathers) a chicken lasagna and Costco muffins (quilttiludrop), red wine (Winewoman), birthday cake for 2Doods & Feathers and snacking vegetables and fruit (Karen), veggie/dip tray and salad (2Doods), fruit, ice cream, Hershey's syrup and a variety of teas (SewCornie), dessert (mistiliz), Ham, Roastbeef and Turkey for lunch along with some lettuce, tomatoes, bread, etc (TrishB), baked beans Patty Jo, and potato salad, a sack of potatoes and a couple dozen eggs in case anyone wants that for breakfasts(Candlequilter). If I've missed something (or added :)) something please let me know!

Feathers has a bingo game and a word game. Bring 3 fat quarters (purchased or cut it yourself).

Quiltingnonie is going to show us PP and will post a supply list.

The rental has a fitted sheet on the bed but only as a mattress cover. You will need bedding and towels. I believe they provide kitchen towels, soap, etc. I will confirm this before we go!

KarenBarnes 05-12-2011 04:29 PM

I'm still a little foggy in the brain! Been taking care of 4 boys 7 and under for the past two days as well as attending the birth in the middle of the night. My DIL was able to deliver without a C-section and did an awesome job! My new GD didn't want to breathe right away and had to have some resuscitation done but seems to be doing fine now. They both came home today! Yes, I'll have pictures of all the kids, since I had a new GS in Feb. Thanks for the prayers, they were much appreciated!

stitchy65 05-12-2011 08:23 PM

How will we know what size we will each be sleeping in? I'm just wondering how we will know which size sheets to bring.

stitchy65 05-12-2011 08:24 PM

oops LOL I meant how will we know what size BED we will each be sleeping in.

KarenBarnes 05-12-2011 09:30 PM

Personally, I'm just going to bring a large flat sheet and a blanket/pillow. You could bring a sleeping bag or something similar. There are all different sizes of beds so I really don't have a different suggestion for you. Check out the website for the list. It will be first come first pick but there are enough spaces that I think if we work together, we'll all have a good time! I've already volunteered to share a king with someone.

Pattyjo7686 05-12-2011 09:54 PM

Trish and I would like to share a king or queen we need the space prefer a king we will be there early to pick ours out.

Feathers 05-13-2011 10:03 AM

My sister and I can share a bed but I'd like to ask if it's possible to be on the main floor as I have a real problem with stairs. I'll be scheduling another hip surgery later this summer as I 'm having a bunch of trouble with standing and walking very much without a walker. Don't want to be a problem or inconvenience anyone but these are my limitations.

KarenBarnes 05-13-2011 03:08 PM

Okay ladies, I have one spot paid for but no quilter. Does anyone know of someone who wanted to go but didn't get in on the deal? There are a lot of quilters in the area and I can post a general message but wanted to let you ask your friends first! I do have to close the signup when that spot is taken.

Also, could all of you please let me know again what day you are planning to come? I don't want to make bed assignments but there are some who have challenges with stairs, etc. and would like to make everyone as comfortable as possible! It will be first come first choice but hope you don't mind making the exception for these type of needs.

Hi Karen:
I didn't mean to be a pain in the backside about stairs but I would appreciate it if it's possible to be on the main floor. Sharon and I will be there on Thursday and will stay til Sunday.

candlequilter 05-13-2011 04:20 PM

Hi Karen, I plan on coming down Thursday afternoon and staying until Sunday morning.

Thanks,
Sherryl

KarenBarnes 05-13-2011 06:49 PM

Sandy, you're not a pain! There are others who don't like the stairs either! I just want to make sure all are comfy! If you aren't comfy, you won't have fun! If you don't have fun, it's not worth it!

Thanks for the responses!

sew cornie 05-13-2011 07:55 PM

I'll be there Friday mid-day at the earliest. Since i'm probably among the last to arrive, I call dibs on the creakiest, most rickety top-bunk in the house!

Thank you, I know some will need to be on the top bunk, and it sure can't be me. I could not get up there in the first place, but if I did, I would probably have you calling the fire department to get me dowm. LOL And wouldn't that be a trip and a half for a couple of times to the bathroom during each night. Oh my, isn't getting old fun?

quiltingnonie 05-13-2011 08:33 PM

Sew Cornie. WHAT a Trooper!! :D

stitchy65 05-13-2011 09:18 PM

I am planning on coming down Thursday after work. I get off around 6pm. I can climb stairs if needed but would rather not. I know we can't all be on the first floor. Don't worry ladies, I am sure we will get it all worked out.

Wine Woman 05-14-2011 05:45 AM

I will be there by Thursday afternoon all depending if I have to work or not. If so I'll be there by 8 at the latest and stay till Sunday morning. I can do stairs-that's fine with me! It's gettin closer!

Thank you Karen for taking charge for all of us, keeping things organized and in control! You are doing such a great job!

cbridges22 05-14-2011 05:55 AM

I will be there Thur. evening after work and I am good with stairs. Can we go now, huh, huh!!!!!!!

KarenBarnes 05-14-2011 08:04 AM

This house has three floors so unfortunately there are stairs! I had said that I would share a bed but I'm thinking those big beds are probably the ones on the main floor so like Jen, I will take the top bunk. I'm getting older but I'm not giving up! :) We'll do our best to accommodate those who can't do the stairs and for those who can hobble them, we'll appreciate your extra effort! :)

Thanks for all the responses! It helps me a lot!

Laurie, what time do you think you'd like to do your demo and how long do you think it will last? I'm just thinking about what I want to bring to do! I do hope you'll get to spend the whole day with us! We'll even feed you! :)

quiltingnonie 05-14-2011 08:24 AM

Karen,
Right now I'm thinking I will be there Sat by 10:00am. So will begin class anytime everyone's ready. I would say I need at least an hour....but I am bringing lots of patterns so everyone can make at least a couple practice blocks, if they choose. Will soon post a supply list.

I will also bring a few boxes of older quilt magazines and calendars. I will offer them FREE to everyone on ONE condition: I will NOT have to take them home with me!

And yes I can spend all day, and YES I will eat

2 Doods 05-14-2011 10:00 AM

I will be arriving Thursday after work and staying through Sunday morning. I can do stairs but pretty sure a top bunk would be an issue. I am throwing in a blow-up bed just in case. I'll also bring my sleeping bag that can go anywhere.

Laurie~ your old magazines will be fun to flip through.
Looking forward to meeting all the new ladies!

KarenBarnes 05-14-2011 10:19 AM

It's getting closer! I hope all are excited and thinking of the fun things we can work on! The sleeping arrangements will work out if we are all open to working together! Needless to say, we won't be in our comfort zone because we aren't home but that doesn't mean that we won't be able to relax and have a good time!

Thanks Laurie! I can help!:)

cbridges22 05-14-2011 12:08 PM

You mean we have to sleep?????????????????

UglyCook 05-14-2011 12:30 PM

Coming Thursday, can do upstairs and top bunk. Not making any promises to the person on the bottom bunk, though.

UglyCook 05-14-2011 12:34 PM

Not sure what I am bringing yet, but our family is going to the beach the weekend before so I might just bring all of the leftovers! Since we are going with 6 teenagers, I'm sure there will be a fair amount of junk food.

Alice, if you're concerned about using a ladder for a bunkbed, we can get you a springboard.

Lilrain 05-14-2011 09:46 PM

Was without a computer for way too long. trying to read through all the posts i am going blind.

Could someone please tell me...

Are we doing white elephant exchange? if so, is it quilting related?

We are to each bring 3 fat quarters?

Someone posted something about Quilter's Strip Poker. Are we doing that?

Anything else as I group I should be prepared for?

And food, will bring food. Will study what is planned and see what I can think of to fill in the blanks.

Thanks,
Lorraine
