I may have to miss out on Saturday. I'll let you know when I know for sure.
DD's boyfriend's parents are flying in from Alaska. This is "my parents meet your parents". Sounds serious doesn't it?
DD thought they should come on out here for a BBQ, ride ATVs and maybe light the bonfire. It would have to be Saturday, if that is what they decide. Guess I better clean house-just in case!

Hi everyone-I wanted to mention that A Comon Thread one of our LQS in Tigard is having an awesome program of Blue Bird Bucks. You buy 100.00 bucks and pay 80.00 and can be used on anything in store, but its the event I really wanted to tell you about.

Linda Matteotti is an expert Handi Quilter Educator and is having a weekend full of classes for Longarm quilting basics, six ways to quilt using free-motion, groovy boards, pantographs, rulers and Pro-stitcher. She will also demonstrate her way of making feathers and ruler techniques. The class is $100.00 but buying the Blue Bird Bucks you pay 80.00 and they will give a 60.00 credit after attending the class for in store purchases. So the class(s) are really costing 20.00 when all said and done. It looks and sounds like a good deal and a lot of information. OK if you are interested you have to purchase the Blue Bird Bucks by the 15th. The class is the weekend of Feb. 10-12.

I'm not a big Quilt Store shopper but this really looks interesting!

2Doods this is exciting-it's sounding very serious!! I'm sorry you won't be there we will miss you!

March 1-4 is the Sewing Expo in Puyallup, WA-is anyone planning to attend? and Stitches In Bloom Jan. 27-28 is also happening at the Oregon Gardens. This is also a nice show. I think Laurie, Quiltingnonie entered her quilts last year! Is anyone planning on this event?

KarenBarnes 01-12-2012 08:50 PM

Alice, I'm really excited for DD but not that you might not make it!!!!

Cindy, I might be able to do the 1/27 but can't on the 28th because I get to go see Christopher walk!!! Yippee!! We can talk this Saturday about it.

2 Doods 01-13-2012 10:53 AM

valsma 01-15-2012 06:15 PM

Karen,
Thank you for hosting the get together yesterday and having such a crowd in. Had a wonderful time sharing and seeing what everyone else had to share. It was nice seeing those I met at the retreat and getting to meet those who I have read so much about on the board.
Sorry we missed you Cindy.
Tammy

He is doing really well and amazingly he is following Dr's and my orders!! I am waiting patiently (Not) for the pictures to be posted. I am sure Karen was a great hostess!

I think Karen, Cindy, and Faith are going on Friday. I am hoping to meet up with them, but may have to end going on Saturday. DH has to go to OHSU on Thursday, and sometimes they keep him overnight :( What day do you plan to attend?

Scotlass 01-21-2012 01:35 PM

A friend from Canby & I are going on Friday, how about a meet up at 11:30 by the chocolate counter??

sew cornie 01-21-2012 08:30 PM

I'm not going this year. I'll be at the beach for a church retreat instead. Have fun though!

cbridges22 01-22-2012 07:53 AM

A new retreat being setup for this year? I'd love to make this one, so I'll keep my eyes and ears open on the thread :)

OK, so here is our thread for the Spring 2012 Oregon Beach Retreat

Our trip is scheduled and location is reserved.
I am sure you are all getting your bags packed.....planning the perfect project to take along.....deciding what yummy treats to throw in.

Just a reminder! We need to plan carpooling. With the limited parking we will need to buddy up in the vehicles. Up-side is the "party starts" before we even get ther

It's going to be a fun weekend, ladies!

reeskylr 02-08-2012 04:45 PM

This is going to be so much fun!! I can't wait. ;)

KarenBarnes 02-08-2012 08:15 PM

Blue and Yellow is always ready for the party!:o My car is going and I've got room for 3 more! I can even put things on the roof now...

quiltingnonie 02-09-2012 07:18 AM

Can't wait to revisit Rockaway, OR. Growing up, we spent a week there every summer with my cousins. :)

Taino Jan 02-09-2012 09:05 AM

Look forward to meeting everyone at the retreat. I'll need to carpool since I drive a truck. Or maybe we can stow all our stuff in my truck and take it if it won't fit in a car trunk?

reeskylr 02-09-2012 11:26 AM

I will need to carpool with someone also. I live in Castle Rock and can meet folks wherever is close to a meeting point. Such as Rainier if that is the route we'd be going.

Also, since we are doing pot luck, do we sack up some groceries? :D

cbridges22 02-09-2012 02:21 PM

2 Doods, what is the parking situation and how many are going?

When I made the reservation they told me 7 cars. The city has an ordinance. Hope they haven't changed it in the last couple of months. Some of those beach towns are a bit strict.
If everyone follows through that says they are...15. That is the number that we have permission for from the rental company.

Sounds like someone got a new car.....Hmmmm? Do tell!

sew cornie 02-11-2012 03:04 PM

I have a minivan and can easily take 3 passengers with the back 1/2 of the van reserved for gear. Or 5 passengers who are traveling light. :0)

Hehe. Well, let's see..

Sewing Machine and Bags of Fabric.
Food sacks and more fabric.
Jammies for sitting around and sewing and more fabric.

How light is that?

That isn't bad, heck that is two per car and an extra on top of a van :)

2 Doods 02-11-2012 06:26 PM

All of you ladies that are going to the beach this spring....please check your email.
I sent you all a message.
Thanks,
2 Doods

Exactly! :0) That's why I offered the option of 3 passengers first. Once we add in machines, projects, food, luggage, etc. . . . I don't want to have the van so full that someone has to ride as the bug screen.

cbridges22 02-12-2012 06:06 AM

Got the email.Carol and I will be carpooling I think, can't talk to her right now as she is on Vacation in Belize.Yes Faith I will make breakfast one morning, biscuits, gravy, eggs and bacon.I will bring coffee, creamer, splenda, milk and a desert.I must say the last thing we have to worry about is food.I like your idea of making a dinner Faith,it was good last time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And surly we can count on Cindy for award winning wine!Bring some extra so we can buy some Cindy,I just know Karen wants a case.
