Thank you, Marjpf!! Yes, I'm always thinking of spring from January on!! teehee. So a spring quilt is always in order for me during heavy snow! Yes, mixing the blocks sure added much appeal to an ordinary HST block! :D ;-) ;-)

Playing with the whole squares on the design wall with sashings revealed a better looking block than the HST blocks. Then I decided to merge the two. Have no idea of the name of these blocks. This quilt just developed on its own. It's 40" square. I cut from yardage to give it a "from the scrap bag" look but a few blocks did come from the scrap bag. The rest of the blocks were from precut squares on hand. I like the secondary patterns that emerge and hope you like it too! I think it would be pretty made into full size. One little bird showed up to check it out!~
Very nice-your block with the squares looks like Aunt Ruth's Fancy and the one with the HST in the corners looks like Grandmothers Choice II. I use the book 501 Rotary-Cut Quilt Blocks by Judy Hopkins. I have found other books might use different names.

Omigosh! You are so right about Grandmother's Choice! Hadn't heard of ARFancy. That book by Judy is excellent. I've been using Ruby McKim's 101 Patchwork Patterns that have lots of old traditional patterns that you don't see anymore. Bought this book for DM 30 yrs ago and here I am using it to make quilts. Didn't think I'd ever have time for quilts. But I sure do love that Grandmother's Choice block! It does look a little bit different from the original GC. Didn't know there was Version 2 out but it sure makes a great scrapbuster and not cumbersome to piece! Thank you for the info and nice comments
