Congrads Karla, I knew it would win. How could it not, it is a wonderful qiult made with so much time and love.
I have my Afican quilt at the quilters now being quilted. I had the southwestern one and mine done and now I need to put the binding on and they will be done. I like quilting on both but feel that they were a rush job and the design is too big on mine. I will bring them up and show them to you when they are all finished..

Many times I wondered if I did enough machine quilting on this quilt. The judge quickly put my fears to rest when she complemented me on the correct amount of quilting "for the design" and it was "well balanced". I got an extra positive comment for using a variegated thread, too. Here I thought I was taking the easy road when using a Serpentine stitch instead of ditch quilting. She commented that was a very appropriate stitch for my particular quilt theme and did we all realize "how very difficult it is to sew a great stitch in the ditch?" I really appreciated hearing that! :D
I look forward to seeing you and your quilts when you have a chance to come up the mountain again!!
Keep on stitchin',
Karla
