Deecee - sthe story behind the quilt itself is based in Greek mythology, when the Kingfisher appears the farmers know to plant there crops because the appearance means that within fourteen days it will rain. That is why I named the quilt what I did. Interestingly we get them in our garden and it is very often the case that the rain follows in a couple of weeks. In Australia we have huge black cockatoos (parrot type birds) and an old farmer once told me that when the black cockatoos rise and call you will have rain that day, and I always found that to be the case when I lived in the mountains. Deecee probably knows this story too :)

What a beautiful memento. I bet your grandma is smiling down on you, tickled pink that you included her doily.TFS.

Yep, When the black cockies fly down from the nearby mountain, it means rain is coming.

Nice tribute - the doily works well in it.

I'm sure Grandma would be so very proud of you. And she is right, you are an artist. That is a wonderful wall hanging.

I just wanted to say 'thankyou' to everyone who has given me such lovely feedback. It is very encouraging, and music to the soul. I know since I joined this group I have had enormous fun with my quilting and seeing what everyone else is doing too. Someone wrote to Deecee yesterday re her quilt and talked about a watercolour site, thankyou to that someone, because I have just had the BEST day making a small watercolour wallhanging. I think that is the nicest part of joining, it opens you up to new possibilities and if you have a problem you can ask for help. So to all of you a big hug and warm wishes from Down Under in Australia :) Thankyou all.....You're the best !!!!
