It is absolutely stunning!! I have both of Maxine's books and am going to make one myself for the first time. Isn't the octagon harder because you have to put a square in the middle of each connection?

I had some leaf fabric (sent me by the lovely gaigai :-D ) that I'd already made a hexagon OBW with so I though it would be fun to see the difference. So here's my finished top using octagons. It's 55" square. The second pic is a close up and the third pic is the original OBW with hexagon blocks.

I'd really appreciate comments and preferences regarding the two techniques. I think they each have merit myself. :-

Wow, you do know how to have fun. I love the octagons as they also provide a small secondary design between the blocks. But the hexagons with the cubes is just a stunner. Your talents are amazing. Please keep posting as you learn more techniques.

I love, love, love the first one (Octagon top). Do you have
a picture of the original fabric. Those are my colors all the
way. If you can post a pic of that fabric, I'm going to try
to find it. Oh, and my opinion is that I like the first technique
better. Maybe I missed it, but what is the difference in the
    two?
    Thanks,
    Marcia

Both are really beautiful but I think I prefer the way the hexagons flow. Just love all of your creations.

    Hi k!
    boy, have you been busy!
You just go and move back over with the brits and get all inspired and stuff, eh?
You must really like it there.
I do like the six sided OBW'S, but don't think I shall ever make one...I'm too fickle to stay focused, however...
even though I do agree they both have their merits, I think I actually prefer this octagon shape.
It seems much easier to see the details.
They are all lovely and show a great deal of talent. It takes real sticktuitiveness to do these. I guess you have that, lol ;-)
You keep going...everybody is not tired of your lovely creations by a longshot! :XD:
