Very nice. I especially like the way you did the border on the first one.

Thanks everyone for your comments - it's really interesting to hear who prefers what and why. :-D The lady asking about the fabric, it's from Hobby Lobby, I think Ducky posted it's name, hang on I'll check... no she was talking about another fabric. Doh, hang on I'll check the selvage... no name, just Printed in Japan for Hobby Lobby stores.

Re the two methods, octagons or hexagons, yes, the octagons do require a little more work, more sewing as there are 8 segments and the setting squares to be cut and sewn too, but it's no 'harder' as a technique. If you can do one, you can do the other. :-D Just be sure and put a brand new blade in your cutter!

Here's a bigger shot of the fabric. It's also in the border of the hex quilt.

Well, someone else makes it too, because originally I saw this fabric at my LQS. Actually, the LQS had a really gorgeous OBW made from this fabric on the wall. That was the first OBW I'd ever seen!!! I wanted some of the fabric, but they had sold it all. One of the ladies there told me (behind the other's back) that I could find it at Hobby Lobby (And I am so glad she did!) So, anyhow, if my LQS had it, it had to also been sold by one of the major fabric manufacturers too. I'll see if the LQS owner can remember who made the fabric, but it's been a long time now.

Yes I remember you telling me that. And BTW I don't hink I've ever seen a BETTER pattern fabric than this for OBW. This could be used as a benchmark to chose other fabrics. Shame they don't do it with a 24" repeat though. Greedy, aren't I? LOL

I am starting my second OBW I am going to have to go back and get more material for the size I want(queen). I really wished they would tell you exactly how much material you have to have to make these quilts. Yours is really beautiful love the borders.

Well, the book does tell you. On page 17 it talks about yardage amounts and there is even a box titles "How Much Fabric to Buy". For a queen size, it would take 9 yards at least, possibly 11.
