    What a gem, it is beautiful, thanks for posting the pics, you have just given me an idea about how to quilt some areas in my next qulit as I am hand quilting, Thankyou!

    You can usually tell by the quilting stitches if it's one of the quilts that are handmade yet mass produced in China that you can buy at almost any flea market. If the quilting stitches are almost 1/4" then it most likely is. But either way it's pretty and well worth what she paid. The stitches in the picture don't look nearly that big.

    I don't think it's Chinese...the handquilting on those is usually large stitch, and minimal. This one has some echo quilting. It's also looking fussy cut to me...factories don't have time to fussy cut...

    Look really close around the edges...if it's a commercial quilt you should be able to find where the tag was removed.

    The one way to tell is by looking at the quilting stitches. Quilts made in China can be hand quilted, even echo quilted but you can follow a thread to the beginning. If the knot is on the top of the quilt, it is mass produced. They don't take that first tug to bury the knot into the layers.

    Also, look at the backing. I know many of us use muslin on backing but the chinese made ones are almost exclusively muslin backed. I think the stitches look too small to be mass produced.
