    Oh how I wish this could have happened to me at a young age too. I really didn't even know what a quilt was til my late 20's. This is so neat for her & for the others she'll pass it on to.

    I remember in grade 7 and 8 we had homemeck classes where we learned to sew, knit and cook. They should bring those back cause a lot of kids don't have the opportunity to learn like your grandaughter. She looks right into it and seems to love it. Way to go grandma.

    This is just the best - she'll be able to finish it a lot sooner with the long arm than by hand (like our grandmothers) or by regular machine (like the rest of us who don't have a long arm). Kids are just fearless when it comes to jumping in, unlike many of us adults (COUNT ME IN!!!) who overthink things and get overcritical of our first (and tenth) (and hundredth) time attempting a new skill.
