Default 2 of the 8 LBB side triangles to show you.

I said I would take a diversion from the flower blocks to work on a few of the side and corner triangles. For those of us that have done 'on point' quilts, you know that you have to stitch triangles on the sides to square things off. Well, on this 'Little Brown Bird' quilt by Mary Doughtery, these triangles have to be heavily appliqued just like everything else. So I finished these 2 this morning to show you. I'll have 6 more to make and 4 corner triangles that do have flowers. I won't bore you with pictures of the same side triangles but will post when I get a couple of the corner triangles done. And, I'll keep working on these. .... get back to flowers and leaves again.

I have posted pictures of all the blocks I've completed in my album. You can view it by clicking on my name, nanna-up-north, then clicking on 'view profile', scroll down and on the left you'll see my albums.

First, let me say thank you for all your kind words about my work. I truly appreciate them.

I was asking that same question when I first started doing these. It takes a little practice but this is what I do.

I draw the circle on the background fabric and cut the small template out of freezer paper. Then I pin the template to the fabric I'm going to use and cut about 1/8" larger circle of fabric. I center it on the drawn circle and start turning under to match to the marking. I use a toothpick, moistened in my mouth to turn a tiny bit, make a stitch, turn a tiny bit more, make a stitch until I'm all the way around the circle. I usually sit and stitch them while watching tv with my DH in the evening. I can do about 10 and then I have to take a little break.

Try it. It works..... but you do need a little practice. My little berries are a lot better now that I've done a few.
