I think they are just fine. I like the pattern and how you laid out the blocks. Very Nice. I too, had wavy borders at one time, but a fellow quilter said to measure the top, middle and bottom and divide that total by 3 and that's how long the border should be. I usually take an extra 1/4" off and it sure made a huge difference. No more wavy borders. Give it a try on a small quilt. But like another quilter said.. they'll keep you warm so who really cares... enjoy them.

I may try this...including taking the extra 1/4" off! Thanks for the advice!

I think it's called Four Patch Chain on point taken from The Quilter's Academy, vol. 2. Send me a PM and I can give you more detailed instructions if you want. It is really just two 9 patches--just that the chain (the 9 patch) has some four patches in it.

First I will post the tops and then the finished quilt. I finished these both yesterday. I'm working on improving my FMQ...have plenty to work on but I do see progress since I first started last summer.

Gotta keep working on those wavy borders. I quilted them each differently with the top one using straight line right through the colored blocks and then kind of stippled the outer area. The bottom one was just meandering stippling--kind of large.

Overall, I'm quite pleased with how they turned out.

I do have to use poly batting since that is what is available here in Poland. I may have more success on the borders if I switched to really thin batting.
THE wavy boarders aren't that bad, I like the look of all of the quilt.

I don't think they're "blah" at all. I think they're both quite lovely. Congratulations!
