2 year WIP - done!

Charhend, these were the first scallops I ever did and I found them to be a pistol. My pattern said to stop sewing at the inner point, cut the thread, turn the quilt and start sewing again the other way. That just did not work for me. I sewed to the inner point and then using my knee lift, stiletto, and fingers I kind of eased around the corner, stuffing the fabric behind the needle as I turned the corner. A little bit of under-the-breath cursing helped. I cut the binding on the bias and hand-stitched it using a ladder stitch. At each inner point I made kind of a pleat. It took a long time. I probably won't be doing a lot of scallops in the future.
Wendiq, I spray-basted and also pinned. I was kind of surprised that the minky behaved, I really didn't have any problems with it except that the weight of the quilt was heavier. I just bunched everything around in a puddle as I quilted. Oh, I guess one tip is that I did straight-line quilting both vertically and horizontally on the sashing to start. That kind of held everything in place. Then I did the FMQ around the appliques. Then I did the border using my walking foot and sewing diagonally between the polka dots. I did not cut out the scallops until after all the border quilting was done.
