Thanks, Ninnie. I've been playing with it a little this morning, swapping out some of the fabrics. DH has done some swapping of his own - we have those darn spiraly light bulbs everywhere and I really dislike them, the light is terrible IMO. So this morning I've been taking advantage of the natural light. Am squelching my desire to make sure no colors too close next to each other, etc. as this is to be scrappy, not planned. Now I am ready to start sewing.

I found this in the latest BHG American Patchwork & Quilting magazine; it arrived in Saturday's mail and I was reading it before bed that night. The original quilt, believed to be from the late 1800's, has 16 of these stars - with no duplication in fabrics! That's over 1,000 different fabrics. No (what's the word for quilt lineage?) ____ - maker unknown, date, etc.

b.zang - enjoy your shopping trip and your visit!

I only posted it because some seemed to be stressing out about just using a quilt block. I figured since it was a plain block, they could see that it COULD look just as nice as a center that is appliqued or landscaped or whatever.
Exactly!! Thanks so much for posting that. I have been thinking about what to make as my center, and have found this block called a lovers knot. I haven't decided yet, but I do like geometric patterns and thought this could lead to some interesting borders.

In the next day or two, I'm headed out to pick up grandkids and it will be a month-long invasion of the little people. My hope is to get into a good-sized LQS while in the big city and check out some BOM patterns as well. No sewing for me with a house full, so it will be planning time.
This one has some great possibilities, I like it.

This one will end up as a round centre on black.

Okay, trouble is we only have USA left, but we would really love to have you. I have all your details from last time so can put you in. Just PM me your telephone number (to be used in case of emergencies only) and I will put you in. We have 9 full rounds and a 10th one needing some more USA people, and its first come first served Patti says.

I know, I'm really bummed to not be apart of the "original" group again but that will teach me to stay away for so long! And, next year I'll just have to be a little bit more engaged to be with all of you again!

Is everyone from the 1st group doing it together again?

Hi Steph, Donīt give up all hope yet, I see we have a very kind hearted Omak who originally had 2 spots. She has offered to stand aside and let you in for an international.
Will let Patti know. I read your PM Omak before I read the board okay.
