I like black too, but I just tried a fused flower quilt where I used semi matching thread and I love it. So I think climbing outside the box and taking a chance with color will pay off for you.

That is a concept I hadn't considered. I remember when my friends at school would outline something with a really dark .... oh, say it is a red apple ...
the outline would be really dark red, and then the inside would be sort of washed out.
The darker color/same shade outlining adds a depth to the picture similar to the black thread ... but enhances rather than calling attention to itself, so to speak.

Janstar, love your little house (in the Prairie). If it were me I would outline the doors and shutters in the darker colour to make it have a 3 D effect The trees, roof and andthing else I would do in a self colour, just my 3 cents worth. It is difficult when you look at something I agree I have this problem all the time.

    That's a cute little house!
    Everyone's centers are looking good!
I'm still here, just trying to get things done and maybe hop a quick flight.

I did wonder, thought you had gone "oft " without telling me.

I am trying to get my head round all those quilts flying around the world. Exciting isnīt it.

I tried this entire past week to get out, but everything was either cancelled or no seats. We did have boarding passes at one point, only to be told when we were waiting for the bus to take us to the plane that the flight was cancelled. UGH!

Oh well...gives me more sewing time.

I wish I could jet around the world with all these tops. :)

Oh yes Terri! I would love to travel with my top!!!

Jan, I love your house block! I tend to view the black vs. other color thread for the blanket stitch as a "what type of feel" you want to convey with the quilt. If you want a more "Debbie Mum"..homey...folk arty kind of feel...use the black or very dark brown. If you want a little more sophisticated look...use a matching thread...If you want a little more "art quilt" type of feel...use a color, but not necessarily a matching color. I love applique and the color you use really does make a difference!! Its a great center and its really fun when your DH plays with you too, isn't it??
