No, not 27 3/4' as in 9 1/4 yards.
27 3/4 FEET ... the ones at the bottoms of your legs.
Quilted the feet on the Twisted Palm quilt today. I have large feet (Thomas - groom) coming up from the bottom right, medium feet going across the top of the beach along the waters edge (Alison), and behind the twisted palm the two meet and walk together to the south (where the bridal area is). The feet decrease in size as they get further away. Thomas' feet are quilted in a slightly heavier and darker thread than Alison's feet.
The bobbin shows the size of the feet.
The palm trunks are quilted already but I didn't take shots of those.
I drew a design of foot prints then enlarged and shrunk as needed to get the right sizes. I then traced them onto the thin gold paper (I always forget the name of that stuff) and pinned it to the quilt. Then free motioned. The large feet are large enough that I stopped and snipped threads between the foot and the toed, but the smaller feet were small enough that I thought it looked OK to just loop the toes.
Excuse the bits of paper. Some of the paper in the toes is so small it's going to have to wait until it's laundered before it comes out. I'm afraid if I pick it I'll ruin something.
