Eddie what a good job you did! I have a huge collection of double knit polyester quilts mostly tops. Calm down....I won't be shipping them over! You're too far away! But I wondered....did you use regular batting and what was used on the backs? Did you have a problem quilting through the bulkier seams or learn to avoid them? I want to start having mine quilted and I will probably tie some also.

No, a regular needle, but I have heard of using the ball point needles on poly. Have you tried it? I'd be interested in hearing experience of those who have.

Yes, I used Warm & Natural cotton batting as well as cotton batting. It seems to have worked well in stabilizing the polyester tops to keep them from stretching. Some of the seams were very difficult and just seemed to stretch when the hopping foot of my longarm came up to them. I finally started trying to enter and leave each square once to reduce the incidence of that.

Yes! That third one (the stripy one) is the "Wonky, wonky, wonky" quilt that I was talking about the other day. :)

I always use the ballpoints to sew it, TOO hard with regular needles, have to change them every three hours at least---am going to try to MQ soon--will let you know!
