Mom had tons of scraps left from all these dresses and they were made into simple quilts of 4 or 6 inch squares. She usually put a cotton or twill as backing; some had batting, some not; and I think most of them were tied.
What I remember most about sewing the 'double knit' is always changing to a ball point needle or you would have skipped stitches all thru your seams.

I haven't done quilting with poly, but I have sewn a lot of vintage clothes, and repaired them. I always used ball point needles, and it seemed to make them look better, and it was EASIER(my favourite word, right next to SLEEP!)
