No, a regular needle, but I have heard of using the ball point needles on poly. Have you tried it? I'd be interested in hearing experience of those who have.
I do believe the ball point needles are for the poly knits not the woven fabric. At least that's I learned all those days ago when I sewed clothing in the poly knits.

Yes! That third one (the stripy one) is the "Wonky, wonky, wonky" quilt that I was talking about the other day. :)
Well, it doesn't look "wonky, wonky, wonky" now! You did a great job -- again.

what kind of binding did you use for the polyester quilts? did you stipple quilt them... they all are pretty.

Back in the sixties and seventies when poly knit was all the rage for clothing, my Mom and us girls (4) sewed all our dresses with 'double knit'.

Mom had tons of scraps left from all these dresses and they were made into simple quilts of 4 or 6 inch squares. She usually put a cotton or twill as backing; some had batting, some not; and I think most of them were tied.

What I remember most about sewing the 'double knit' is always changing to a ball point needle or you would have skipped stitches all thru your seams.

    Yes, the good ole days!

    ;-) ;-) ;-)

I haven't done quilting with poly, but I have sewn a lot of vintage clothes, and repaired them. I always used ball point needles, and it seemed to make them look better, and it was EASIER(my favourite word, right next to SLEEP!)
