I saw this method at the NW Quilt Show on Friday and I love it! Much more pleasing to the eye that some of the others that I've seen of this type!

Very nice. I'm starting a quilt using the 4 patch posie, but putting inside a star. Yours is very well done.

[quote=plainpat]What size are the blocks when you put the 4 corners together, before adding small border strips? How much focus fabric is needed to make a quilt the size of yours? TIA.

I had a 12" pattern repeat and cut my blocks and strips 2.5" in thus making the block 4" square. Cutting this measurement gives you a little wiggle room if the pattern is not lined up perfect. I got 62 blocks out of 48" of fabric. I also had to make 20 other blocks to bring it up to size I wanted. Finished size with 6 in border is about 61x74. I used 8 blocks across with 10 blocks down with total of 2" sashing between. I used about 4 yd of focus fabric. The pattern calls for 1 3/8 yd for squares making 2.75" and 2 yds for 8 " border to make 60 x 70 finished size. I sure would get at least 4 yds of focus just to be sure. More fabric is needed for larger repeat. LOL.

Thanks...have it saved .I have a couple 4yd cuts, but not sure they're bright enough. One is an oriental I love, but not at all bright. Will keep checking stash.A sofa throw would work for me.
