Default 40th Birthday gift for my Son

I wanted to give my son something very special and unique (and something he would hopefully treasure forever) for his 40th birthday. He is an avid Fisherman who never has quite enough time to fish with his 4 beautiful kidlets and working. I couldn't think of a more appropriate gift than a quilt with a fishing theme.

A week before the big day I started madly working on his quilt. I found the perfect embroidery designs from Embroidery Library.. and the perfect fabric from my LQS. With all supplies in hand I was off to the races! I thought I could embroider out the blocks in one day! Wow, I certainly underestimated that one... I finished the embroideries 3 days later!! They did embroider out beautifully so it was time well spent. Once I sashed the blocks and appliqued them to the background fabric, I knew I could get the quilt done. I did SITD for the embroidered blocks and echo quilting around the blocks and edge of quilt. I completed the quilt the evening before his birthday! YAY Me!!

I am the first to admit it's NOT perfect! But, I completed it in time for his birthday, he loved it and that is ALL that matters!!
