Default 50 Shades of Gray Baby Quilt - not really but a few shades of grey :)

When my daughter Diana told me she had painted her nursery gray I was certainly taken aback - how was this Nanny supposed to know that this was the hottest color since the "50 Shades of Gray" trilogy had burst onto the scene. Anyways, I wanted to make a nice quilt for Gemma's room. I had a freebie small jelly roll from an online store, and I used a nice pink from my stash for the cornerstones, and a quick trip to Walmart found a very dark grey for sashing, and a border with two shades of gray - there was also a smattering of gray in the jelly roll.
The pink certainly softens the quilt !
I have added a picture of my 3rd granddaughter Gemma Elizabeth

The quilt is darling. Gray is a great color, really. But the baby!!! So sweet and adorable. I want to kiss her so badly. Thank you!

Quite a challenge for you I can understand, but what a great job you have done. The pink is just right and will satisfy your concerns and meet your daughter's remit as well. Brilliant. What a beautiful little girl. Congratulations.

I think we all agree. The quilt is beautiful, but that baby is beyond words, just adorable!

What a beautiful baby girl! and her quilt, too! You did a beautiful job on choosing blocks and prints to go with the gray.

We will have 5 new great-nephews in 2012. Three of them will have gray in their nurseries. One of their moms is undecided. The other niece is an artist, so she has her own color scheme going, which is teal, greens, blues and red. I'm making or helping with three of their quilts and will probably make the first one born earlier this year a larger quilt for his next bed.

The simple, modern designs their moms like will be easy to make and the gray sashings and borders won't show stains as much as white.
