The pattern is called "Exploding Star" from a book I've had quite a while called "Scrap Quilting Made Easy", from House of White Birches. The pattern called for 1 1/2" HST, but I made them 2 1/2", so the quilt is about 55" square.

    Great work!
I really, really like the retirement quilt. Such a clever idea with the pencils and all.

They are all wonderful. That first one however is the most stunning thing. And I couldn't believe those pencils in the last one. Thank you for posting them. I really enjoyed them.

I all really great! Love the pencils and the bird focus fabric. The HST star is wonderful...the "mistake" is only obvious to you. I didn't even find it at first. HST are so versitale and your layout is fabulous! I have a box of very small HST's. I'm going to make a note of where you got your pattern. Thanks!
