    @Nicole,
    I went right over this the first time I read it:

    Empire's show in March at FIT? It'll be a hit, I'm sure.

    Also, I just wanted to share a blog that I follow.
    http://exuberantcolor.blogspot.com/p...tt-fabric.html
    Wanda pretty much only works in Kaffe-ish (Jacob/Phillip/Carla-/Brandon..you know, the whole Westminster family) fabrics and makes beautiful quilts - simple shapes but really working the value/color components of these fabrics.
    I'm pretty impressed with the size of her collection of thse fabrics. I thought you, and those following this thread, might also find it interesting.

    And quite the "discussion" you've got going here, isnt' it? Just sitting back quietly and watching it unfold?
    I'm not double dipping so I won't repost my thoughts :mrgreen: :-D

    Hi all,

    Wow, thank you for the responses! It is so interesting to read everyone's thoughts, and I can't wait to finish up the quilt. Yes, the quilt will (hopefully) be shown at the Empire Quilt Guild's show in March in NYC. Hope everyone in the area can make it!

    As for your thoughts, I will audition red and blue colors for the border/binding. I agree that it needs something dark on the edge for the last border to "pop," but I want to keep the same look as the quilt has now.

    I may add a narrow border and bind it in the same color, so it looks uniform. Alternatively, I was thinking about just making an ultra-wide binding for the same effect.

    I'll post photos when I'm done...thanks for the great advice!

    You need something to finish it, the yellow is pretty but your eyes are drawn inward to the blue. The yellow is lost. Red and blue would make it complete.

    Right now - as is, the center draws your eye right in. I think a blue border would spoil that. I'd just bind it. Great job. Hope you win a ribbon!

    It is perfect as is. Trying to add another border would be too confusing.

    it is great with no border. What you might do it lauy the quilt on a strip of fabric and see how you like it. Audition a couple of fabrics, with just enough showing to look like a border. Sometimes borders of a single fabric look great as they kind of stop the busy appearance of pieced borders. , never know till you lay it out and look
