Hi quilts with convicts! I think it's an amazing job your doing in the prison system. I didn't know they would let anyone do that.
I was born and raised in Alb. N.M. I was just there visiting my family and I went to a couple of quilt shops, they were awesome. I now live in Lakewood, Co., but I do miss my people back home and the land I grew up on. Well, again, I just think you are doing a great service quilting with the convicts.

4ever - Thank you for the compliment. I love what I do & working with the guys was a real eye-opening experience. I think they sometimes think I'm a meany as I don't feel sorry for them one little bit. They are there because they made some wrong decisions/choices, some were horrible. They want me to be what we call a "hug-a-thug" & I'm not one now, nor will I ever be!

However, I am passionate about quilting & I really love my job working with them. I am thrilled when a quilt tech decided he wants to make a quilt for his personal use - to give away as they're not allowed to keep them!

    Thanks again!

P.S. I'll be in Alb. May 17 & 18. DH has to go there 4 times a year & I go along to drive (and shop!) We stay at the La Quinta right down the street from Ann Silva's Bernina Shop & I love that store. Went to SW Decoratives & Quiltworks way out on Menaul. Will go back there when I'm out of Harbor Freight blades. I stocked up on them in February!

This was challenging. I did the little leaves as Lesley did, little one on the middle and then those on the big one. I got some what messed up and had to make my circle bigger. But, it looks okay.

I sewed the green to the background differently than you all. I placed the green(with the outline traced onto it) over the purple and sewed a regular line on the outline. Then, I cut the outside of the green away, very close to the stitching. Next, placed a piece of stablizer under all and used a satin stitch. It sure cut down on the time. This is the way some of my machine embroidery designs do for frames.

I'm really liking that grape background fabric.
