I think it will be beautiful! I've made tied couch throws for DD's teachers for several years now. Last year her teacher was 6' tall so I made one extra long. She still tells me how wonderful it is, how it's the first throw she's ever had that "fit" her. When I run into past teachers this time of year they say, "I thought of you and Josie the other day when I put my throw out on the couch." So from experience I can tell you that they love something other than the usual ornaments or knick knacks. Another thing teachers love is a good sturdy tote bag of sizable proportions.

I was an elementary teacher for 35 yrs. and the gifts I treasured the most were items made by my students or their parents. I still have crocheted baby blankets, a hand knitted sweater, lovely letters of appreciation, a small sewing kit, and ornaments that were gifts over the years. It meant a great deal to know a family had invested time and effort making me a handmade gift. The teacher will treasure this quilt!

I think it is awesome and I believe she will truely love having the quilt.
You have done a remarkable job, you can be proud.
Your son will have more pride giving her this quilt than you may realize. You have given him the gift of giving.
Merry Christmas and may your holiday season be blessed.

Thanks all for your kind words. Being a first time mom was looking for feedback.
My son's teacher is very sweet, she has been teaching Kinder for 18 years and talks about her work and the kids with passion. I hope this repeats as he goes through his education.

Per my husband, an elementary instrumental music teacher, the gifts teachers care about are the ones that involve thought, have meaning, have purpose, that can be used and enjoyed. "Especially kindergarten? Great. Great gift." - ChipR :)

    Beautiful quilt and fantastic idea!
