Ali's Quilt Finally Finished
#1
I finally finished Ali's quilt. I had posted in February looking for help for the label to put on this quilt and was thrilled with the idea that Irishrose posted for the label. Originally I was thinking I could get this quilt done in under 2 weeks, but life interfered. I ended up having a kidney stone attack and surgery to remove the kidney stone. I also ended up piecing the back which added some time. Ali is 29 years old and was diagnosed with breast cancer after finding a lump above her breast last summer. She did not seek treatment for the lump until sometime in February when the lump started growing larger. She underwent a radical mastectomy and is now undergoing chemotherapy and will have to have radiation treatments also. She teaches at the school where I work and is also mother to two young children. I had all of her students and coworkers sign squares to incorporate into the quilt.

Beautiful quilt. I hope someone see's your post and is moved to get a mamogram or a lump checked out--so sad--there is so much preventive health care available, denial is understandable but it just delays treatment. (Can you tell I'm a nurse)
