I found some really pretty fabric in March at JoAnn it is not the usual St Patty's fabric, but really pretty fabric that has Ireland themes. I want to have this done on their 1st anniversary -- I am a newbie and am comfortable doing the top, but need more practice for the FMQ. So I am giving myself a year to get it finished.
Thank you, cherokeerose, for your nice compliment! I love this pattern too and it was on my bucket list for 2 yrs.! Good girl for giving yourself lots of elbow room to complete the wedding quilt on their anniversary! How beautiful! The fabric sounds so nice and we just can't wait to see pics of it and your SIC that you just started! I'm new at FMQ too but love HQ the most and usually do that on all the quilts. This one will be a combo of FMQ and HQ! Be sure and PM me when you post as we would all love seeing your pics!

Wow, N2, it is so beautiful! As always, you inspire me so much. It seems like 2.5" squares would be the perfect size. I love your work and your choice of colors. Someone earlier said, you Rock, for having finished it in 3 days. I sewwww agree. Wow, I need to get going faster for sure.

I have a basket full of 2.5 inch squares. When i have fabric scraps, I cut them into 2.5 squares. Now I know what to do with them! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you, Linda, for your kind words! It sure helped having pre-cut squares and strips in that size! Otherwise, it would've taken forever! Of the 500 needed, 428 different scrappies and 72 white, I only had to cut the white! I just keep an ongoing ready basket of that size squares (and other sizes too) that I add to continually all year to use since I make more things with that size. If I can't find the color square I need, I hit the pre-cut 2.5" strips and cut away! Now my 3" strip pile is way overflowing because it's hard to come up with something you would need that size for so I cut most scraps into usable 2.5, 2, and 1.5 sizes. Being prepared makes the projects more fun once everything is cut and ready! I'd love to have the QuiltCut that uses NO templates and you can cut any size you want, but for $228, it looks like I'll be cutting freehand for awhile....lol.....Take one day for cutting scraps into usable sizes and you'll love the ease of your next project! Plus, it's handy for reference of what's in stock or shopping for fabric!
