Default It all started with a pillow

I rediscovered a hugh amount of four patch squares that were made over the years and decided to try my hand at a scrappy pillow top. It went well, and the design is pleasing to me. Then I thought what about a scrappy quilt? Never did a scrappy one before for a queen size bed. What have I gotten myself into? Had to set up an extra folding table in my tiny sewing room, just to lay out all the four patches, and there is fabric everywhere! After three weeks of sewing off and on I have 4 rows made and at least 3 or 4 more to go. I'm thinking it needs something else like flying geese between the horizontal rows. I can see like colors together and they will be moved around but so far this is what I've got.

I really like this just the way it is. I think that if you added flying geese, it would be a distraction or perhaps the word would be too busy. If you feel the need to separate everything a bit more, I'd go with just some white sashings or even black sashings!
Right now.... I'd scoop that away from you just as is!!

I'm agreeing with sewsewchickie. Throw a black or even a grey--I'd stay away from white or cream--sashing between the rows and you will end up with a quilt that my Grandma would have been proud to put on her bed, and I would have been honoured to sleep under.

Cute pillow! I would put the 2 pieces put together without adding sashing or flying geese. If you still have more scraps, I might do a narrow border around the centre and then maybe a piano key border with more scraps.

Love the rectangle strips between blocks. My first scrappy quilt made such a huge clutter that I said never again! Ha! Now I'm working on another scrappy quilt! I've just developed a system to control the chaos.

I really like how the rectangles are 3 squares wide instead of just mirroring the 4Ps - I don't know why but it just makes the overall quilt so much more interesting!
