    Default almost time for borders!

this quilt has been such a challenge! its been started and stopped so many times with other things in the way! its almost time for its borders. i was thinking about green, then the background and then perhaps piano keys but i wanted to take the piano keys and 45 the ends of them and make them different lengths and then add the background color to make up the rest of the 6.5 inches for the "keys". what do you think? think i should stick to 2.5 (i have a jelly roll for this) or should i go down to 1.25? should i applique fall leaves in the background? should i make maple leaves for a border instead of the keys? you gals are the pros here, toss me some ideas! i'll need a good 12 inches at least on all 4 sides of different fabrics to make up the whole border. and the beginning of the irish chain on the left side is all being hand sewn except for the flowers and im doing them on the machine. it will be hand quilted when i am done sewing it. i would LIKE to get it done by christmas! thanks ladies, have a beautiful day! and on a side note, the ducks had babies in my pond! kind of late in the year but such a joy to watch out my sewing room window!

Possibly a thin single color 'frame' then the piano borde and then maybe a solid which you could possibly applique within the corner area?

Just a thought - It is a great quilt. I love the looks of it. I like the other one you're working on too.

That is a BEAUTY! Could you maybe layout or draw up some of your ideas so we could help you chose?

IMHO thin border and then either piano keys or your blocks.

It turned out beautiful. I have the same quilt on my design wall now ready to put the blocks together. I just really enjoyed putting it together. I hope you enjoyed it also.
