    Default Angry Lion

The angle of the photo makes him look angry, but he's not really! I saw this pattern when it first came out in Quiltmaker Mar/Apr 2014 and thought wouldn't it be cute if the camel colored portion of his body had some texture like cotton velveteen or maybe corduroy. When I had an opportunity to make it for a baby shower, I couldn't find the right color in cotton, but I did have a piece of faux chamois in my stash. It's poly, but I threw it in a hot wash & dry and it came out just fine. The problem i didn't anticipate was, it stretched. So when I went to quilt it, the quilt was way out of square where there were a lot of patches of the poly. I used my trusty long arm tape to force it into square and I tried to quilt heavily in those areas. I was looking for texture, but got more than I bargained for! It did look better after washing, but I didn't get a picture...

Adorable! I bet the chamois is a fun texture for the little one to feel.
