Another Confetti Art Quilt........

To answer a few questions.......No, this is not a special technique that I created. I was inspired by quilts done by Noriko Endo and Sally Manke and their creations. It is a simple technique where I loosely follow a picture I took or found in a book. I create a wall hanging by dropping bits of fabric directly onto batting (or a pieced background) until I have the desired look. I do cut tree trunks in addition to the confetti pieces and sometimes will cut out a building or other interesting object to add to the picture I'm making. I use a flat surface where my "work" can be undisturbed while I am putting it together (no sneezing)! When I am satisfied with the look, I cover it completely with a dark colored tulle and pin like crazy! This holds everything in place until I get the FMQ completed. I don't usually do much thread painting, but on "Falling For You" I did do some shading on the trees. This truly is creating something from nothing because I use scraps! Batiks work really well because the color is the same on both sides. There are a few YouTube instructional videos out there and I did find them helpful to get over any fear and "dig in"!

No, there isn't any glueing or fusing at all. When all the pieces are in place, it is covered with a dark (black, navy, brown, purple) piece of tulle (fine netting, like bridal illusion) and pinned in place. Then I quilt over the entire piece. The tulle doesn't show. This is actually a very simple process and fun!

Some quilter appeared either on Carol's craft show or on Alex Anderson's show and demonstrated cutting fabric into tiny pieces to cover a certain area. It seems her name was Cynthia? This is vague but that's all I remember.

You are a great visionary. I loved your Amish buggy too. I don't have much artistic talent, so using a photo may help the challenged artists, like me. Thanks for your continued postings. Maybe it will give me the push to try it some day.
