It was kind of cute. Today my husband came in from being out and he said, "It was a really good idea to quilt it on the diagonal like that. It really looks great and keeps the squares all lined up nicely."
I smiled.
Later I told him, "I looked on line, and lots of people quilt their ATW quilts this way--I didn't come up with it on my own."

To help you pack, look for storage bags that you squeeze the air out of; you put in the quilt or clothes, zip it closed, and roll it up so the air gets squished out. That is how I brought 8 lap quilts to my family in Spain last month! Perhaps your daughter could mail you some (I found mine at "Bed Bath and Beyond"). These are fabulous quilts!
