Default Another one for the carry on...

This one needs to go in my carry on as well.

I have another one (http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...y-t245132.html) that I wanted to carry on, so I may ask my son to carry that one, and I'll take this one on the plane with me.

My daughter is getting married in October, but we are headed back in May for her graduation from college and my DS#1's wedding.

Last summer when I was in the states for a brief visit, I met her future husband as he was also visiting in FL when I was (that was planned as I hadn't met him yet). While there, we wandered into a quilt shop there in Dade City, FL called "Quilts on Plum Lane" and DD #1 saw a traditional ATW on the wall. She said, "Mom, that's what I want for a wedding quilt!" To be honest, I was a bit taken back as it was such a simple pattern, (albeit classic) as I had expected much harder, from her. However, she is a lover of all things retro and books and classic, like Jane Austen, etc.

So, I said, "OK, I can do that." She later sent a picture with suggested colors. I decided to make this quilt top last Nov. when I was feeling the need to piece in the midst of quilting a bunch of charity quilts.

My DH suggested making her a reversible quilt, so I decided on the QR code for the back. I was scared to quilt this as I was afraid that it would no longer read since it would now be "not as flat" (I use poly batting as that is what we have here). I posted the QR back a while ago, but not the front.

I was really nervous about quilting this, as you can tell by my procrastination! (we leave in a couple of weeks.) But, I finished this today--still need to trim some loose threads and do some general fixing in small places here and there. I'll wait and wash this one when we get to the states and can use a large washing machine (our "large" washer is probably about 3/4 the size of your large) and follow the instructions on how make sure the dye is set.

Anyway, getting the pictures to accurately reflect the beauty of the colors has been a chore. I finally asked my 16 y/o son to take some with his camera as his takes a better picture than mine does. We also had quite a time getting the QR code to read though I kept checking it through the process of quilting it. I didn't quite get the back centered perfectly, but considering what I was afraid of, I'm okay with it.

Back side QR code which can be read by a smart phone. This will work as the label.

It is a large queen sized quilt. The ATW squares started out at 2.5". The QR code started out at 1.5" squares/strips. The poly batting is 100 grams, which is about 3 oz. batting.

That's it justflyingin....we for sure can't be friends .... you are obviously from a different galaxy with the ability to quilt in another dimension..... i thought you were just messing with the space/time continuum, but i've figured you out now.
Seriously - dare i repeat myself ??...your quilt is gorgeous....tho i have to show my ignorance...what does the QR say...or is that a secret. Don't know how to check it with my phone.

Wow, great quilts! Love the QR, it's been on my list for a couple of months, wish I could finish some others to begin it, alas, work will not permit, ugh.

    It's no secret.

What's on it? Their names, the date of their wedding, a Bible verse, made by (me) etc. Anyone can read it who has a smart phone and a scanner on it.
