    Bow tie ! Probably around the 60's? Or early 70 at the latest.

    This is definitely a bow tie and the pattern originated in 1898.

    This is a modified pattern of the bow tie pattern by Janet Wickell. You won't have the typical square in the middle, but form the shape using triangles sewn to outer blocks.

    There are easy ways to replicate this without adding the square attached in the center. You could place a square the same as the tie onto the background square and sew from corner to corner, then cut off the excess and flip it back. Like doing a snowball block but only one corner. Hope this helps.

    there is also a version of the bow-tie block that ends up 3-D.
    needs to be at least a 5" block to work easily. looks hard but really isn't & is straight piecing.

    Yep, Bowtie with the knot same color. Usually it is a diff. color.
