They remind of pot holders or coasters and are just adorable!Mug Rugs add that to my idea book.I know I would love to get this as a gift so that means so would other gals and guys.

    I love the idea.

I noticed your bobbin holder in your photo, is it magnetic and where did you get it?

    Thanks,
    Marie M.

Some of us at our church made mug rugs for table favors one year. Two 5 inch squares with pinked edges two pieces of thin batting and a few whole cloves, a piece of cinnamon stick and whole nutmegs inside, made a sandwich of them, then pounded the spices with a hammer to smash so they would smell good. Still do and I use them, the heat from the cup of tea or coffee sends the scent into the room.
No binding, just sew a half inch around the outside edges, no turning either.

I never heard of "mug rugs" but I think I'll make some. I made a small one that was in a star shape orginally used as a potholder. I brought Christmas mugs and put in the cup a pkg of hot coco mix with marshmellow in them. And a plastic spoon coated in chocolate. I gave them to the ladies at my daughter's church where she was director of children ministries.

I made a bunch of smaller version and use them for gifts as well as keeping them around the house to use. Always handy to have somewhere to set the cup when you are away from the table! Good way to use up scraps.
