Great job! I love Toni Whitney's patterns. I have also made a couple of her horses and the moose and of course her wolf.

I bought the moose first, a couple of years ago, and put off making it because I had no experience with the technique. Then one of the LQS had a class, and the bear was one of the patterns we could use for the class, so I bought it. The whole thing turned out to be much easier than I thought it would be. If I had just jumped in and made it I wouldn't have needed the class! If you don't cut exactly on the line or line up the fabric quite right - it really doesn't matter! I pulled all the fabric from my stash, which the way I like to do it.

Absolutely beautiful! I want to reach out and pet it! Question, please. I know raw-edge applique is when the edges are not turned under. When you do a project like this--making a picture out of many pieces of fabric--do you sew around the pieces or just fuse them on? I've been wondering this, as I never can see any stitching around the pieces.

I stitched around the pieces on the longarm. Some people satin stitch on a DSM. My pieces were definitely not stuck down well enough to even consider not stitching them. I used steam-a-seam-lite. I don't know if a different fusible (or a heavier hand on the iron) might mean that you don't need to stitch the pieces down, but actually the stitching adds to the design so I think I would stitch anyway.
