B&W log cabin opinions needed!

I think it is going to look Great, remember the log cabing does not look wright until you put it all togeather. There are 50 ways you can put the block togeather when they are done so keep on working on it you are doing great. In reference to the solid black, either put it in the same place on the block or delete it altogeather. The eye goes to the solid black and you do not see the whole block.

This is really lovely!!!! And is going to be really pretty when done. If you can print several copies of yoiur blocks in "gray scale" on the computer and put them together. This should show you if the solid black sticks out. Good luck and HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just love your prints. I agree with all of the comments about the solid black, however. My eye goes right to it and it is kind of distracting. Maybe keep it as a tiny border around the entire quilt to set it off from the outside border (if you put an outside border on). But, in the end, it is your quilt and your choices. You're off to a super start!! Love your red center. Your quilt is going to be gorgeous

I agree with Rebecca S - the one fabric that bothered me the most was the white with the small black floral. It seems like it could go on either side and usually that means not to use it for a log cabin. You are doing a great job sewing - can't wait to see it finished!

I think you are doing good! When I look at your blocks and squint, a couple of the fabrics appear to be "mediums", the small floral print in particular. The log cabin block often has higher contrast between the light side and the dark side than what you have. Mediums can be used to good effect. If you want stronger contrast I would add some lighter whites and darker darks to the fabrics you are using but maybe you want low contrast logs.
