Thanks Divokittysmom. That was the second quilt I've made. It was for my great-nephew. For 6 of the fabrics I used the 6 receiving blankets that his mom registered for. Added a fabric to make the 7th set of squares & backing.

You've got me curious now. I'll be watching to see how you decide to do yours. Lots of great ideas given here.

Here is another placement for the fabrics thanks to the photo provided by Cowgirl.. I think I like the uniformity more than the randomness.

Still wondering if I need to bring another print in to add a bit of pizazz to the quilt.

I thought I would re-post the 1st pic along with the new photo of the new placement of fabrics.

I do plan to add a blue border to the quilt.

What had you thought of using for a border & backing? The bolder print with all the colors would look good for a border & add to it.

**Just saw that you are going to use a blue border. How about an extra row or 2 of that bolder print to break up all of the softer prints/colors?

Those colors look lust like a quilt I saw on line - a nine-patch with white sashing. It was in google images of nine-patches. 9 nine-patches with white sashing by a professional - somebody picked the fabric and paid for it to be done.
I love your colors - they are my favorites! - try grouping them in clumps, maybe sashing?

UPDATE: I decided to go with the idea from the photo that Cowgirl posted. I have all the squares stitched into rows and now am stitching the rows together. I do like the uniform look much better for this particular quilt.

I vote for the disappearing 9 patch. It will "spread out" all the gorgeous colors, and still look great....and it looks so complicated, but it really isnt!!

The fun about baby quilts is that it doesn't matter. They can have a pattern or not. Either way they are cute, cute, cute! I have gone both ways on baby quilts, and don't think either way is the 'right' way.

I would have loved doing a D9P on this quilt. However, I was concerned that being flannel and that it will be washed alot of times, I thought that the fewer seams the better. Being fairly new to quilting... not sure if this is relevant or not... just seemed logical to me. :?:

Looks great! I like the uniformity better too! Keep playing with layout until you find the one you like. (Might want to take photos of each one so you can compare them and decide, or go back to one you like more.)
