    Default Backing too small?

As I use often fleece as backing for my quilts i have the problem that it is a little bit too small! And here I want to show what I am doing to make the backing wider so that it will fit to the quilt top! I use scraps from the quilt to make stripes and sew them between the fleece fabric!

Wonderful way to make a larger backing.

Great idea. I've done that with quilters cotton but never thought to mix fabrics and use it for minkie which I have several scraps of. Duh...thanks for the reminder and tip.

Very creative. I have been using a no pill plush fleece for my most recent quilt backs. I recently donated one of them to our church bazaar/sale and it was a small lap quilt which brought $250 dollars and the bidders wanted it because it had a soft backing. I'm on my second T-shirt quilt now and will also use fleece backing. The grads love it as it is soft and cuddly; whereas, sometimes a quilt is not so soft as too much quilting can make them stiff. Need to watch for sales as good fleece can be spendy. I also FMQ my own quilts on my domestic and it is so much easier quilting with only having a top and fleece back, no batting in between. The weight of the finished quilt is equal to one having batting inside. Works great for me

Thanks for posting! That's a clever way to make the back just a little bit bigger.
