Like what my Mother used to do except hers were all needle turn. Gorgeous stuff! I still have some of her books and finally listed them on Etsy so someone will use them instead of gathering dust on my shelf

These are all needle-turned. The last one was appliqued and the edging and center veins on the leaves are an embellishment. Our "how-to's" for this, various methods of applique - including the needle-turned method, rushing, how to do folded rose-buds, Broderie Perse, etc. were all taught the class I attended at my LQS. My quilting buddy and I were forturnate enough to attend an Elly S. class about 3-4 summers ago at Quilt Camp in the Pines (Flagstaff, AZ). Elly is a fantastic teacher and so knowledgable about the BAQ's.

Will post some of my "in progress" BAQ's this next week. They can be slow-going and I tend to get side-tracked and work on something faster inbetween working on the blocks. New technique or pattern that catches my eye - and, off I go on another tangent! LOL

PS - the majority of these blocks have not yet been embellished with inked or embroidered veins (except for the leaves on the rushed rose block), tendrals (on the folded roses block) etc.

They are beautiful! I am working on my first needle turned Project and got very discouraged, it s definately not as easy as I thought it would be. I put it aside for a while until I get the urge to do it again.
