You lay the two pieces you want to join face up one on top of the other. You then cut them at a 60 degree angle. Then with the pieces, right sides together, match them up, kind of like a "V", and you'll have an ear on each side of it. Sew it with a 1/4 inch seam where the ear meets the fabric, and after stitched, trim the ears, turn over and press. Unless you have as large pattern to match, you'll have a hard time telling where it is. I did that last night and after putting it on my board and sleeping on it, I had to feel the blocks to see which one it was.
