Yes, I am doing the pattern Surf Song from the Twist and Turn Bargello Quilts book. It is the strip-tube method, which I like, as it turns out.

    Its beautiful.

How much fabric does it take roughly to make a bargello? Any rough ideas?

The one I am doing takes 20 fabrics, 1/4 yard of each. Then you need enough for borders and the back. It calls for 2 colors, from dark to light, 8 of one and 12 of the other. I have 8 purple and 12 blue. The one I am making is actually labeled a wall hanging, 46 inches by 48. Once I get some Christmas shopping done, I can get back to work on it. I can't wait! It is called Surf Song and it is from a book by Eileen Wright called Twist and Turn Bargello Quilts. The instructions are very good, as long as you read them several times.

I made a placemat first to learn the technique. That pattern is also in the book.

Hope this is helpful. I am very pleased with what I am doing. I did spend FOREVER selecting fabric, but that is just me. I watched my sister yesterday select her fabric in about 30 minutes. She has been quilting 15 years though, and this is just my 4th year.

Thanks Dina. I thought it took tons of yardage. And thanks for posting the name. And that is a good idea to make a placemat. I cant wait to make one.
