My DH recently bought a 'Big Green Egg' on Craigslist, and he has become as passionate about his smoking/grilling as I am about quilting! He finally understands my obsession!

He needed serious oven mitts, so for his birthday I made these. I recreated the Big Green Egg in applique, exploring machine applique on my new Janome 6600. Sewing the mitts together was a big challenge - 8 thick layers to sew together - but the 6600 was up to it. DH announced that he couldn't possibly USE them - they are too pretty and special! I am insisting that he use them...

You can see the real thing in the background!

I made a set of mits, pot holders, apron and chef hat for my brother a few years ago. He may not use them often but he has used them and loves them. Your DH will love these even if they are not used that much. Great work
