Lovely piece! I'd keep the quilting fairly simple. jmho

I so like this quilt. Great job and I agree, a simple meander is all you need.

stitch in the ditch would be nice. Plus, since it will be used for the beach, try some FMQing using shell motifs. Waves of the ocean, and stuff. Still not putting too much quilting time into the quilt, but at least if would give the kids a game. Where can you find a shell, waves of ocean, perhaps a starfish in the quilt. That would be nice.

    by the way, cute dog.

I think a diagonal crosshatch in a neutral beige could work. It's quick and easy and would secure the quilt for beachy "abuse". Great quilt. I'll bet the kids treasure it for a lifetime!

It's beautiful. Re: the quilting, I like skypony's recommendation. I have cut cardboard templates of designs (shells, starfish etc.), drawn them randomly on the quilt with Crayola UltraClean Washable markers, then meandered until I got to a design, outlined it, then continued meandering until I got to the next design. Easy, quick and a little different.

Very nice. How about simple flip flops or sand buckets?

It's a fantastic beach quilt/blanket, and I'm sure will be greatly appreciated, as it's already gotten your 4-legged furry friend's approval.
