I decided to try the mini 9P on the corners with strips to join them. I'm not thrilled with it, do you all think it's a little to Christmassy looking?
Next is the square in a square block. I am also having second thoughts on this one. I think I should have put the light next to the center square and the green on the outside. Do you vote for me to redo it that way or leave it as is???

I just found this thread, & I'll enjoy watching your progress. This is going to be a great quilt. I like the red & green with your cardinal. I'm not sure about the other block. It doesn't seem right but I'm not sure switching the fabrics is the right answer. Go with your heart.

Today I redid the one block and made the last 3 of this set of 6. It was a major do over day as the fog was in and I made lots of silly mistakes I had to frog.
My firsts today include making the mitered corners... Yayyyyyyyy me!! Also the square I drew with the 1" bars extending to the edges of the block. I'm very pleased with how well it came out. I'm including a photo of how I sketch the squares which serves then as my pattern for the sewing and cutting.
