Well, I am going to be on hold for a while here while I try to find some more fabric I am going to need to fit my churndash blocks to my center section.
I have put out the call for an eagle, which has been answered.
I also need 2 or preferable 4 of the following: great blue or other heron, egret, stork, flamingo, shore birds with longer legs, bittern.. basically some tall thin birds. LOL
I have 4 spaces that are 6" wide x 10" tall that I need to fill. I'd like to put birds in them if I can find the right ones. I can't get to the city till mid-next week so I'm at a stop till the eagle lands! Smiles and hugssssss all! Thanks for your encouragement and support so far!

    You've been busy!
What happened to the Churn Dash blocks ... are they going in the next layer after all the ducks?

yes, they are the outside row, but I need some tall birds to help fill in for the spacing, so I'm on hold till I can find some. See my comment in the thread above. Have any herons or egrets or flamingos????/ LOL

I love the idea of the snow globes, will you put them on a bookshelf?
They look like they are sitting on a shelf. Got the pattern from www.fatcatpatterns.com

WAKE UP EVERYONE!!! The fabric crisis is solved and I am good to go again on the bird quilt.
I have had my granddaughter with me this past week so I didn't get much chance to sew myself. I did find some fabric and managed to finish the top section after a dear board member sent me the eagle fabric. Check it out!

Today's post on this WIP is about when ideas seem good and look good until you photograph them and look at them on your computer screen!! LOL
I had these ideas that I really liked. I worked on them today and even thought I liked them after I had them all pieced together.
So, then I took the pics to post here tonight and as I was getting them cropped, etc. I got a real look at them. OH MY!!

    What was I thinking?
I wanted that bottom center panel to look like one unit made from 3 different sections but pulled together by the teal and dark green/red block sections. That sure didn't happen, did it. So it's back to the drawing board on that one.

Part two of it all went wrong: LOL

I was trying to break up the side panels by introducing a different look. I added the hummingbird with flowers, which is fine, except I needed a filler section and was trying to make it fit.
Problem is, it's too different and I think it breaks up the quilt flow too much. I am going to have to piece a block around the humming birds rather than use them free standing like I tried to.
Perhaps that's the answer to the problem with the bottom section, also.
Back to the drawing board to see if I can come up with a rectangular block that will pull things together rather than make it look like stray blocks slipped in by accident. :D

Ah got it worked out and now I am happy and even the camera likes it!!
Here are the new and improved bottom center section and bottom row all together.
And the wayyyyy better hummingbird block.
I have to make one more for the other side of the quilt then I'll be ready to start joining all together.
I am thinking to try a modified quilt as you go by sewing the center section to the backing first, then adding the side panels and then the top and bottom last. I'm hoping it will be easier on me with smaller sections to quilt at a time.
