I'm going to be a MUCH happier stitcher!!!
After hanging around here for awhile I started to think retirement had made me brain dead. I spent a whole lot of years at an office computer in a proper task chair. So why have I been sewing in an antique ladderback chair? And complaining about my back hurting? DUH!!!
Yesterday DH and I went shopping and I am pleased to show you that I have a new, more appropriate chair and mat. AND a nice big ironing topper for my table which is now up on bed risers.
Me, my back and DH (who has to listen to me complain and watch me go around bent over) all thank you very much!
Plus I had the table widthwise under the window and figured out it would work much better longwise so I could use both sides.

You will be happy with that chair. I was also told to stand on a thick mat wherever I am standing too long, like when we are cutting fabrics. It helps a lot. I still need to get me a chair like that. I also worked in an office before "discovering quilting". Sometimes I said to myself" I should have retired earlier to start doing quilts earlier in life.
Enjoy your beautiful sewing place.

Aurora - Office Depot has the chair for $50 and it raises up higher than most. It has a mesh cover and comes with 2 extra covers. You can get it in black with a blue and a gray cover or in pink with a purple and a lime cover.
I didn't really care WHAT fabric was on the chair because I plan to make a cover eventually. I have some fabric to reupholster an antique settee that is in my sewing room so I thought I'd make a chair cover to match. Then I'll be styling!
