It's a striped fabric that she cut on the bias, made a tube like you would use for an appliqued flower stem and appliqued onto the scalloped edges. She did it so well you can't even find the ends of the tube. You can see it better in this close-up.

I can't imagine that you haven't entered any shows. Your work is outstanding and you really need to put some quilts out there for many to see and admire!!! DO IT!!
