I would binded it. I do not like the way birthing looks around the edges. I have been having pretty good luck on small items with a backing cut about 1 1/2 larger all the way around and quilting then fold over the backing to the from for binding. You do have a beautiful piece.

Its a beautiful job. I would bind it, its really not as bad working with the angles as you think.

How very pretty!! To bind it, I would do it the usual way. Your angles will just be at 36º instead of 90º. Try it on a scrap quilt sandwich, you'll see its easy.
If your batik fabric you're using for binding is stiff, try washing it first to soften it up some.
If you don't square the quilt up, do you have an idea how you will hang it what with all the angles at the top? Will you be stiffening it in some way?

Anything that I really care about I bind. That way I know after quilting I can make it square!!!!

Fivepaws, I just got the email from Philips and I'm going to watch it. How timely is that?

Baloonatic, I'll make a cardboard piece the exact shape of the top 1/3 or so of the hanging, put triangles on the back of the quilt and hang it. I did a StarSpin this way and it hangs flat and close to the wall. Hope it works for this one.

I would bind it, just turn the corners like you do at a corner on a quilt.

I've never head of birthing either. What is that?
