    I wanted to do one like your avatar K3N with the cubes but it seemed like too much with the border

    Yes I think you were right - the cubes need careful placement or they dominate. And theborder on yours is such a striking feature, it deserves to be the 'star'! I've got a couple more waiting to be quilted - one with cubes and some little 3D touches (it's dragon fabric) and one with no cubes but some fairly extravagant applique! This technique is so versatile and the only 'pattern' I've done more than once (I think I'm up to about 12 or 13 !) because everyone is so different. You can play with cubes, the shape of it, borders, applique etc etc...I'm currently piecing one in three separate panels, a triptych. :-D In a purple and lilac fabric, which will have an appliqued vine trailing across all three parts. Such fun! :-D

    I almost did this one in panels. There was an example of one done in panels in class and I really liked it.
