WHOOO HOOOO after a couple of hours search I found the pattern I know I had seen before! It is a free one on Jaybird quilts site. She sows you how to do it with a variety of rulers and is strip pieced. I absolutly love this quilt and can no way make one as beautiful as this one but I will sure give it a go

that pattern is alot like what i did but i didn't use a pattern. i was actually inspired by http://www.amybutlerdesign.com/pdfs/...Love_Quilt.pdf but wanted to do it much smaller. i did strip peice it though, i used 1 1/2", 2" and 2 1/2"(or was it 3?) strips and sewed one of each size together randomely. then cut into 6 triangles using a 60 degree ruler and assemble them into half hexes. then i arranged them and sewed the half hexes into lines, much easier then trying to sew assembled hexes together.
